Grilled Chicken Tangri, a recipe by one of our close friends; Mashaji. The delicacy is simply yummy.. You cannot stop by just one, you keep eating it. Kids love the yummy chicken dish. You certainly have to give it a try !!

Grilled Chicken Tangri

LOL.. I eat it like a main course.. can’t stop myself..


Grilled Chicken Tangri is a yummy and favorite starter of many chicken lovers. The delicious and soft chicken with the spices well seeped in the pieces give the dish a yummy flavor. All you have to do is preparation the chicken a day before to marinate. Next day the chicken is ready to go on to grill or barbecue. The delicious Grilled Chicken Tangri is best when served with Mint Chutney and onion slices.

Recipe – Grilled Chicken Tangri

Serves:  6

20 minutes for preparation, 24 hours for marination, 30 minutes for grilling

  • 12 chicken thigh
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1 pinch of turmeric
  • 1 tbsp paprika 
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp desi ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • 6 green chilies
  • 2 tbsp cilantro leaves
  • 2 tbsp mint leaves


  1. Wash and make long gashes on chicken legs to merge all the spices.
  2. Prepare the tandoori marinade by blending everything except the yogurt, food coloring and chicken in a food processor. Process until a smooth paste is formed. Blend in the yogurt and a few drops of red food coloring mix well into fine paste. 
  3. Mix the marinade in with the chicken drumsticks and apply all over, cover with a cling wrap and refrigerate for more than 12 hours. For best results marinate the chicken legs overnight.
  4. Take out the marinated chicken drumstick and cook on a grill set to medium high until cooked through, around 30 minutes. Also you can grill on charcoal.
  5. Apply desi ghee with a brush to all over the chicken. Rotate in between to grill all the side perfectly. Serve hot with salad and chutney.
