Tandoori Gobhi - 3

Recipe – Tandoori Gobhi

Serves: 4

20 minutes for preparation, 1 hour for marination, 10 minutes for cooking

Ingredients:

  • 1 cauliflower

For Marination:

  • 1 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp red edible color
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp tandoori masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Gravy:

  • 2 onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Hang the yogurt in a muslin cloth for 15 minutes.Tandoori Gobhi - 4
  2. In the mean time boil water in a bowl, add salt to it and let the water bubble.Tandoori Gobhi - 5
  3. Chop the stem of the cauliflower and wash it thoroughly. Put it in boiling water and cover it with a lid. Turn around the cauliflower in between so that it is evenly cooked from every part. Let cook the cauliflower until 70 percent cooked.Tandoori Gobhi - 6
  4. To the hung yogurt add turmeric powder, black pepper powder, red edible color, ginger garlic paste, tandoori masala, salt to taste and oil and mix well. The oil is very important to avoid the cauliflower to get dried during cooking in the oven.  Mix all the ingredients well in the yogurt.Tandoori Gobhi - 7
  5. Now, take the cauliflower par-boiled and then apply this mixture over the cauliflower. Rub with your hands to enter every crevice in the cauliflower. Turn around the cauliflower and put the remaining marinade inside the stems.  Leave to marinade for 1 hour.Tandoori Gobhi - 8
  6. Chop the onions into minute pieces. Puree the tomatoes and set aside.
  7. Preheat the oven at 250 degrees centigrade. Place the marinated gobhi in the oven and bake for 7-8 minutes.
  8. Till the time the gobhi is being baked, take a pan and add oil to it and let heat.
  9. Add the chopped onions and saute until pink in color. Now add the turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and mix well. Let cook at low flame for 2 minutes. Add the tomato puree prepared and cook for another 5 minutes on meidum flame.

Now, take a plate and place the baked gobhi on it, and surround it with the prepared sauce.
