Any disease is bad, but one of the most irritating is cough and cold !! The seasons change and we tend to fall ill with cough and cold. However, there are a few home remedies than can take care of the two villains bringing our energy levels down !! Stay Healthy :)


Home Cure for Cough and Cold

Any disease is bad for health, but this really irritates !!

 

As the season starts changing, not only our kids; even we start tend to start getting cold and flu. The cough and cold really irritates when you face problem breathing or start coughing around with a sore throat and a painful head. However, you will really be amazed to know that there are a lot of things that can be done at home to control and cure it at home.

 

The first and foremost thing that needs to be done taking up lots and lots of fluid. Fluid intake in the body helps a lot to remain re-hydrated and break the congestion too. However, increasing the fluid intake does not really mean taking in of coke, coffee or any other caffeine products. The reason being these drinks dehydrate your body rather than re-hydrating it. Better to have some herb-ed drinks.

  1. Boiling Tulsi leaves with crushed ginger, black pepper and salt. Let it cool down a bit and have it warm. It helps to cure your soar throat and control cold.
  2. Boil water in a pan and add crushed ginger. Remove from heat and add 1 tbsp lemon juice in 1 cup water and honey to taste. You can also add black salt to taste. Have it warm. It helps moisten the tissues and control your sore throat.

The second step that helps a lot a lot is gargling with warm water mixed with salt and turmeric. Salt helps to clean the throat and turmeric works as an antiseptic curing your throat. Alternately, you can even gargle by adding 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1 tsp of honey in 1 cup of water and letting it cool  to room temperature. This obviously tastes better than the salt and tumeric.. lol..

Drink hot soups, and gravies that are made up of onions, garlic and ginger. Garlic has antimicrobial and immune-stimulating properties and it gives a lot of  relief in the upper respiratory congestion with cold or flu. Ginger has antioxidant effect, as well as an anti-inflammatory effect, that helps fight viral infections.

 

Last but not the least, try to stay warm and take rest while you sip some of the home drinks. Get well soon !!
